Riverpark at 41st Street

Water spouts up out of holes in a grid pattern but moves from one spout to another. The kids were trying to jump on the water as it changed from place to place.

The playround area at the new 41st Street park has lots of things to climb on and splash in.

The park on Riverside at 41st has been completely redone. Workmen are still planting trees and finishing the landscaping. While we were there several men were rolling out a non-slip coating on sloping walkways. The city is doing a first class job on this.

Where there might have been a few people there before, now there is a crowd - seniors eating a picnic lunch in the pavilion, people walking their dogs, moms watching their kids play on the swings and splashing in the water features, lots of people enjoying a beautiful day. A number of kids wandered over to pet Smokey. He had a nice time. We will be back.

Having read a few US blogs I've noticed that the public spaces are way better than those over here in Blighty.

I think our councils need to take a leaf out of your book, buck their act up and provide better outdoor spaces for us!

Liking your blog - found you through Garden Geezers blog.

Hi Bill. Thanks for the EM, lovely to hear that all's well with you and Susan. I'll send an EM in the next few days. Your even older friend, Stan

Bonsoir.

Lorsque les arbres auront vieilli et donneront plus de feuillage, il fera bon se promener dans les allées de ce parc, non ?
Kisses.

Sounds and looks like a great place to relax and have fun for people in all ages - even dogs :-)

Yes, there are many old trees lining the trails and making a cool green tunnel for walking or bicycling. Many new trees have been planted to fill in open spaces. Lights have been added on alternating sides of the trail to make it safer to use after dark. This has always been a nice area but it being turned into a showplace.
