Downy Woodpecker

The little Downy Woodpeckers are one of my favorite birds to visit my feeders. Dressed smartly in black and white, they are all business. They jump in, gobble down a bite to eat and then off they go. Pretty little things.

We saw a huge woodpecker in Costa Rica, I was amazed to see they actually dig the wood, like Woody Woodpecker! Man, that bird was loud... :D

When I was a kid we had a woodpecker that was convinced that there was a huge worm living inside the aluminum pole that held up our TV antenna. He drilled on that thing for most of one summer.

I can remember hearing woodpeckers as a child playing in the local woods. Now, alas, where I live the area is too built up to hear the woodpecker and, sadly, not even the call of the cuckoo. Perhaps if one is a country dweller then these two bird calls are more common.

Bonjour.

La photo de votre pivert est bien réussie : à son oeil malicieux on voit qu'il se régale !
Bisous.
