Thursday Challenge - Red as a Lobster

The Thursday challenge for this week is "Red".  What can be redder than a lobster?  I happened to find a nice big sign with a red lobster on it.  I not plugging one particular restaurant but as you might guess, big pictures of lobsters are not very common in land locked Tulsa Oklahoma.  My birthday is Friday March 1st and I think Sue is going to treat me to a lobster dinner.  I will be 72.

Wednesday Doors - Las Americas

Like many cities, Tulsa has a growing Hispanic population.  In largely Hispanic areas a variety of businesses cater to every taste.  Markets like Las Americas are small shopping centers offering food, clothing, and traditional merchandise of all sorts.  A trip through the doors of one of these malls is like a quick visit to Mexico.

Ruby Tuesday - Red Birds

Tulsa has had several inches of snow this week and today (Monday) it rained all day.  Not a heavy downpour but one of those slow soaking rains that sinks in and fills up the ponds.  More snow is forecast and we should have several more inches by morning.

My bird feeders have had plenty of customers.  Here are two kinds of redbirds.  The little guy is a house finch with a red cap and bib.  The big guy is a male Cardinal, one of the most widely recognized birds in the USA.  When I was a kid we called them "redbirds".

Skywatch Friday - Let it Rain!

The part of the country around Oklahoma has been terribly dry for the last several years.  Ranchers have had to sell cattle because their stock ponds were dry.  But starting about two weeks ago we have finally had some rain.  For the last several days we have had rain mixed with snow.   We are hoping that our dry spell is over.

Macro Monday - Young Pup

Last week we drove over to Wagoner to celebrate two birthdays. My oldest grand child Sarah is 18 and youngest Wren is 2.  Wren's new puppy Gus is about 4 months old and from the size of his paws he is going to be a big dog.

Black & White Reflections - Sycamore Tree

On the southeast corner of the parking area for the 41st and Riverside Park is my favorite sycamore.  I would guess that a little sycamore tree got cut off near the ground and three volunteers sprouted up in its place.

The little playground at 41st and Riverside was deserted today.  We had a much needed rain that kept the kiddies away.
