Oklahoma City Bombing, April 19, 1995

Fifteen years ago today the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was devastated by American terrorist Timothy McVeigh. This memorial was constructed on the site of the bombing which took the lives of 168 people including 19 children at a day nursery in the building. The time was 9:01 in the morning, the time inscribed at the top of the arch.

Dorn said... [Reply to comment]: We unexpectedly had to switch classrooms that morning and the news was airing the bombing in the temporary classroom. I remember it taking a while to realize this was actually our Oklahoma we were seeing and not some foreign embassy. Very sad day indeed.; Monday, April 19, 2010

The quietness of downtown OKC along with the solemnity of the memorial is truly breathtaking as well as heartbreaking. I hope that with the passions that are being aroused with the TEA movement, that some person does not get something similar in their poor demented head.
