The entire state of Oklahoma has been under a state of emergency since last night because of extreme winter weather. We have had freezing rain and sleet since early this morning and beginning just before noon, heavy snow. It is about 6 inches of snow on top of a layer of ice in my neighborhood and no sign of letting up. Everything is shut down. We had tickets for a play last night that was canceled and rescheduled for Saturday - "maybe". School was canceled, businesses closed early, the airport is closed, nothing is open but the police and fire stations and of course, the Walmart. I am curious to see how much snow we will get overnight. It could set a record. I realize that people in more snowy northern climes may laugh, but this is a lot of snow for us.

Hope you stocked up on groceries! Stay safe!
Beautiful shot but it is serious when power is knocked out. It's just started snowing in NC where I am and I'm crossing everything that it will just be snow. I've dealt with losing power for almost 2 weeks in the past when there was a lot of ice as well as snow. I personally think a deep snow is preferable to much less accumulation when it's ice. The ice causes so many problems. Stay safe and warm!
I like the "softness" of the snow in your shot. Strange that you are getting all this snow, and in Toronto we have not really had any snow of significance this winter (although it has been cold the last two days, with minus 15 C today; that's brisk with the wind!). Looks like you need my snowshoes and parka!
Global warming has strange effects, I guess.
Stay warm and dry. If you go out, don't forget the hat and long underwear - it won't feel that cold.
Of course the Wal-Mart. LOL Snow is beautiful, but dangerous for us civilized beings so dependent on things like power, roads and the like. Nice quiet scene. I like the snow until I have to get out my shovel.
What a beautiful-looking thing snow is UNTIL you have to attempt to go out in it - at least, that's my feeling now I'm in my dotage!
I still have some stocks of food in my freezer from our last lock-in in early January and we are promised more this coming week.
Snow is definitely for the sure-footed young.
You have my sympathy - I have just been out clearing about that amount of snow.
Spring - pleas come!
We've had loads of snow since before Christmas here in Norway, but I guess that's more normal though.
The snow in this shot makes it a good monochrome picture.
I don't laugh at all as I know it can be a challenge - especially if you're not that used to that much.
In Oslo, Norway we have about 3 feet and -10C (14F)
Anyway; nice photo - made me feel always like home :-)
Happy Weekend!
Gorgeous shot, we got more of the ice than we did snow in Memphis. It's a shame cause my kiddo would love to have all that snow to play in. ~ Calico Contemplations
So much snow!
I love that you can kind of see the stairs but that snow in untouched.
It's a lot of snow when you don't ususlly get it! We've had the same problem here.
Troublesome though it may be, your snow looks so beautiful.
