On Friday, August 31 we have what is called a “blue moon”. The next time we get the chance to glimpse this phenomenon will be in 2015. Those expecting to see the moon change color will be disappointed. The term simply refers to the unusual occurrence of a second full moon within one calendar month, and since we already had a full moon on August 2, this is a blue moon, and the first seen in the United States since December 2009.

Great clear shot of the moon Bill. I'm still befuddled in trying to take pics of the moon.
That's wonderful Bill. Yogi, have you closed your blog site? I can't get in :-(
Lovely photo of the moon, - and it is so good in B&W! The moon was great this night!
I was fascinated by the serene and bright blue moon last night here in Nara, Japan, too.
Beautiful b&w photo!
Blue or not - the old cheese still looks beautiful.
Is it different in the USA to elsewhere, or do we all get a blue moon in August. Did we get, seeing August is done and dusted. My lens is not zoomy enough for me to attempt the moon.
Strong image here TG!
superbe
@Julie
It is an equal opportunity moon, full on the same days (or nights).
The lone star makes it for me.
Brilliant shot!
WOW !!!
Beautiful indeed... And with so much details...
Bravo.
Awesome b&w photo.
Bill, can you help me. I tried posting a picture on weekend reflections and It tells me my photo is to big. How do I scale it down? Thanks
Bill...I am so glad to see a great capture of the blue moon. I had just gotten a cortisone shot in my hip for bursitis so was unable to haul myself and the tripod out there. Yours turned out to be a fabulous shot.. Kudos to you . genie
