Seems to me a giant toad has eaten it.
That's fabulous. When Sharon was home we went around photographing bark so I had pictures of trees to draw. The detailing is quite exquisite.
I dare you to stick you hand in there:-)
I love that pic, There is a similar tree on the river parks and somebody has placed a geocache in it. I can't bring myself to put my hand in and up into it blind to find it.
