Skywatch Friday - Stormy in Stroud

This is Stroud, Oklahoma. The downtown area is very typical of small Oklahoma towns. The prosperity of the 1920s looks frozen in time. These towns derived income from traffic of Route 66 passing through. Now they are just exits off of the interstate.

Stroud has had some hits in the last 15 years but it keeps hanging in there. Okies are tough. Great clouds.

It also looks like some of the little towns along US 90 in northern Florida. Once I-10 opened in the late 60's and early 70's, time seemed to stop for them too.

Interesting shot. I could almost see a whole movie unfold there.

I very much like the wide streets in western towns. They make the town seem so inviting.
