Breakfast at the Blue Dome

Susan says that breakfast is her favorite meal to eat out. Since she offered to buy I was easily persuaded. Of course we went downtown to see my son Luke at the Blue Dome Diner.

I ordered my favorite, a sausage and mushroom omelet with a fruit bowl instead of fried potatoes and instead of toast Luke made a pair of his wonderful walnut blueberry pancakes. Oh! they are SO good. It is more than I can eat so I cut it in half and will enjoy the rest of it tomorrow. Two breakfasts for the price of one.

Susan had a pair of eggs over easy, bacon, fried potatoes, and biscuits and gravy.

My friend Anne thinks biscuits are cookies. Anne, THIS is a biscuit and it is eaten with savory cream gravy made from the sausage drippings. Yum!

That biscuit is a scone and the thought of having gravy with bacon is yukkie to this English palate.
You will never convert me - but enjoy. One thing I'm looking forward to when Sharon comes home is eating out, unless she decides to cook for her Mater :-)

Susan and I keep part of our money in separate accounts s there is "Her" money and "My" money. It is rather like having two pockets in one pair of pants.

What we call a biscuit the English would call a scone. It is a quick bread that uses baking powder to make it rise instead of yeast. It contains no sugar, just flour, baking powder, salt, butter, and milk. If you add some sugar and maybe raisins or blueberries then it IS a little sweet and we would call that a scone. What Anne calls biscuits we call cookies.

I won't try to convert you to sausage gravy Anne. We will let you have haggis instead. When Sharon comes to visit ask her about biscuits and gravy. She has likely encountered that in Hawaii.

Have a restful weekend Elleona.
