April is the season for Azaleas here in Northeast Oklahoma. They are several weeks early this year because of our early spring weather. I don't remember a spring when they were so profuse. They bloom like this for about 3 weeks with some earlier and some later.
Years ago the weather in Oklahoma was considered to be too harsh for azaleas. Art Johnson, landscape architect and director of Muskogee Parks and Recreation from 1949 to 1977, introduced azaleas to Honor Heights Park in the 1950s. They were a great success and encouraged the popularity of azaleas throughout the area. Now they are a common sight in city parks and private homes.

Love those azaleas - they remind me of the golf at Augusta, to which I shall be tv-glued from Thursday:-)
Hope you don't get the changeable weather we are experiencing. Warm spring sunshine last week with temperatures in the twenties. Today, in Scotland, nine inches of snow and it's on its way down to Yorkshire this evening. Winter drawers on:-) Brrrrr.
Reminds me of the old saying "ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out" - how sadly true.
