I'm very curious - I find it hard to believe that photography is allowed in Church. I'm sure you do it surreptitiously but still, I'm curious!

Set the iPhone on silent and there is no sound and no flash. I take photos from where I'm sitting and it's really not noticeable. I take a lot of photos which go into a church scrapbook. I'm sort of a stealth photographer.

Would this be taboo in your church?

Frankly I have no idea. I'm afraid to say I'm not a church goer but it always seemed rather "stuffy" to me when I did attend so hence my comment about cameras. The only time I seem to be in a church now is at funerals and from my experience, those can be times of laughter at memories of lost loved ones, but still not cameras!

I do enjoy seeing your pictures in your church. Definitely the impression is of a more relaxed atmosphere than my church going.

Not all churches are stuffy. You might do a little church shopping just to see what is out there. Sue and I both feel the need to be part of a church family.

Susan's first husband was an Episcopal (Anglican) priest and I attended his church. He died unexpectedly and several years later Sue and I got better acquainted and married. Being part of a church community is just part of who we are I guess. It is a personal thing

I agree it's a personal thing but since I've been sober, I've surprised myself at what I've found the courage to try - it's a big world out there. A couple of my neighbours are regular church attendees so who knows what the future might just hold for me? Never say never say I.

Church is not AA and AA is not church. I have found that I need both in my life.
