Monday Macro - Periwinkle

There is a bed of periwinkle that grows wild around the northeast corner of my house.  It is one of the earliest bloomers in the spring and the leaves stay green over the winter.  I am an admirer of anything that can survive our hot dry summers, especially if it blooms.

Weekend Reflections - New Driller Stadium

The Tulsa Driller baseball field is reflected in the entrance to the Perimeter Technology Building.  This is one of a number of old downtown buildings which have been remodeled and repurposed in the city center.

ONEOK Field is located in the historic Greenwood District of downtown Tulsa. The art deco style architecture of the ballpark pays tribute to Tulsa's professional baseball past, the Greenwood District and the City of Tulsa. Prior to this new stadium the Drillers played at the Tulsa county fairground.  The Drillers played their first game in the new ballpark on Thursday, April 8, 2010. The ONEOK foundation contributed 5 million dollars toward the construction and earned naming rights for the next 20 years. ONEOK is an energy company supplying natural gas to the Tulsa area.

Skywatch Friday - Guthrie Green

The Guthrie Green is a new public space covering a block just south of the new studios of KOTV Channel 6.  The green contains a bandstand for live music and a fountain for kids to play in.  The landscaping is newly planted and will look better every year.  The gently sloping grass lawn provides seating for a free movie when weather permits.  Downtown Tulsa is coming alive.

Ruby Tuesday - 2013 VW Golf

This young man was checking out a 2013 Volkswagen Golf at the recent Tulsa Auto Show.  He wanted to sit behind the wheel but his big brother beat him to it.  This seems to be a male prerogative as I saw very few girls making such inspections.  Maybe it has something to do with the male hunter-gatherer instinct.  Maybe girls are just smarter.

The Warren Clinic Tower, 6600 South Yale Avenue, Tulsa.  It reflects a lot of sky.  This is a long shot from Sue's hospital room in St. Francis a few weeks ago.  She had a hip replaced and is doing much better now.

Thursday Challenge - Expensive

This 874 Auburn Dual-Cowl Phaeton was displayed at the Tulsa Auto Show by Broken Arrow resident Glen Pray.  I don't know what it's worth but I bet I can't afford it.  There is a very interesting story that goes with this beauty.  Read it HERE.

Ruby Tuesday - Red Bellied Woodpecker

The Red Bellied Woodpecker is distinguished by a red cap and nape, white cheeks and a black and white ladder back.  The female has a red nape but the cap is white.  The belly is only faintly tinged with rose.  These are not common at my feeders.
