I was driving around taking pictures this afternoon when I discovered this wonderful tree. Actually what was wonderful was the root that had grown up out of the ground between the street and the sidewalk. This is on 16th Street between Rockford and St. Louis.
I could just imagine all sorts of wee creatures making their home in the nooks and crannies. There is a whole landscape here.

Nice tree! The roots must be very deep... As a kid, I would have love playing around this tree :$
