Tulsa Ballet Center

It may surprise you to know that Tulsa has an excellent ballet company. Their offices and rehearsal facilities are on 45th Street just west of Peoria, just a few blocks away from our home. I am sorry to say that we do not have season tickets to the ballet, but try to attend at least one of their performances each season. For more information look HERE.

The Tulsa Ballet performs a full season every year. The resident dancers are wonderful. Almost every season they perform an original piece choreographed by a member of the company.

Tulsa Ballet was founded in 1956 by husband and wife, Roman Jasinski and Moscelyne Larkin, dancers internationally known for their style in the grand Ballet Russe tradition, and musician Rosalie Talbot. The artistic mission of the Company has remained constant throughout the years: To combine the beauty and joy expressed by dance with the drama and entertainment of the theater. The Company has toured in thirty states, from California to New York, and throughout the world and has received consistent critical acclaim.

I am ashamed to say I have only ever seen one ballet and that was Christmas 2008 when Sharon came home and we went to see The Nutcracker at Leeds Grand Theatre.
I thoroughly enjoyed it but confess I prefer watching musical theatre.

I love the Tulsa ballet. We go almost every Christmas for The Nutcracker and try to go at least once more for one of the others. My favorite was Midsummer Night's Dream. I even have a favorite dancer in their dance troupe: Ma Cong. He was spectacular as Puck!

Hello,
I never went to see a ballet, and it is one of my big dreams, I saw opera, theater, classical music concerts, the most wonderful view of Beethoven's 9th conducted by Sir Yehudi Menuhin 20 years ago.
You are lucky to live in a city like Tulsa.

Tulsa has ballet, an Opera company, and 2 symphonies. Indeed, we are lucky.

Hello !

Je crois que c'est une chance d'habiter une très grande ville comme Tulsa car elle offre une infinie variété de loisirs et de détente.
Chez moi, avec les 880 habitants de la commune :-((((
Kisses.

Thank you for the wonderful comments on Tulsa Ballet! I work at the Ballet offices, and I feel so fortunate to watch every performance. The company is performing in New York this summer, and at the Kennedy Center in DC next June!

Votre ville de 880 habitants est très faible. Tulsa n'est pas une grande ville, à environ 375.000, mais suffisamment grande pour offrir beaucoup de choses. Il est juste pour moi.

Quelque chose de bien est sur le point de vous.

It doesn't surprise me! The USA are a surprising place actually, I'm used to that.

Do you know where I send my students for online French grammar lesson? The University of... Texas! No kidding, they have the best French classes, online for free. It always makes my students laugh, considering Texas is far from French culture!

Sidetracking here, but you get my point ;)

You are right Zhu. The US is not the cultural wasteland that some think we are.
