Swim Lessons at McClure Park

Willy likes to swim under the water.

Molly is getting ready to dive from the high board. It looks higher from on top of the board than it does from below.

Molly is waiting her turn at the high diving board. She is 3rd from the right wearing a red swim suit.

Molly and Willy are taking swim lessons at McClure Park for the 2nd week. Molly has learned the butterfly stroke and Willy has improved his ability enough to be in the intermediate group with Molly. They are having fun and becoming better swimmers.

I have to admit to a strong feeling of envy when I see youngsters being so "brave" in the water and I wouldn't dare look when a little one dove from that diving board!!!

Here I am at 74 and unable to swim. I did try when I was in my 40s but I have a real fear of the
water and my bottom had a tendency to sink when attempting to learn! On the very rare occasion when I have been into a pool I have been terrified by small children jumping in the water anywhere near me - they're so brave and I'm such a coward.

They're brave kids, especially Molly diving off that board!

Sounds like they're having a great time learning all the different strokes.

Bonjour.
Quoi de mieux que d'aller à la piscine quand le temps est à la canicule ?!
Hop ! En maillot de bain et une tête dans l'eau fraîche...
Bisous.

I remember going to that pool every summer while growing up (at least once I moved here). I was only brave enough to do the high board once, and that was enough for me. Kudos to Molly for being a braver girl then I'll ever be.

My mother was a good swimmer and taught me to swim when I was very young. Young enough that I don't remember not being able to swim. Likewise, I taught my kids to swim very early. None of them was particularly afraid of the water.

Jumping off the high board is another matter. I could swim, but I was not a diver. The best I could manage was a feet first "cannonball".

Now you were the sort of kid I hated when I went to the pool. Totally fearless "feet first cannonballer" making a huge splash so that water got on my face!
