Thursday Challenge - Flowers
This weeks challenge is "flowers". That's an easy one for me. I have 20 rose bushes planted in 24 inch resin pots around the perimeter of a wooden deck behind my house. When they all bloom at once they put on quite a show.

Ruby Tuesday - Custom Roadster
Sue and I went out for breakfast last week and this car was parked near the front door. I would guess that this is a one off project rather than a restoration of a original car. No doubt the owner was inside eating breakfast but we left him undisturbed.

Macro Monday - Wild Primrose
The wild primrose is found in pastures and along country roadsides. It is discouraged by mowing so is less common alongside busy highways.

Thursday Challenge - Outdoors
Tulsa has a lot of "outdoors". What do we have that sets us apart? The beautiful Arkansas River that runs through Tulsa. The city of Tulsa just announced a $200 million addition to the river park system to be called "A Gathering Place" made possible by Tulsa businessman George Kaiser. Read all about it in the Tulsa World.

Ruby Tuesday - Waiting for Paul
A couple of weeks ago Sue and I went to see Paul McCartney at the BOK Center. We went an hour early to get a parking place close to the center so had to wait for the show to start. I am here to tell you he was worth the wait. The man came out and did a 2 & 1/2 hour show without an intermission, and he wrote every song. What humbles me is that he is only 1 year younger than I am.

Macro Monday - Water Lily
Water Lilies are in the pool at Philbrook Art Center. I read somewhere that seeds were found in an Egyptian tomb that grew when planted.

Skywatch Friday - KOTV Channel 6
Located on Cameron Street between Boston and Cincinnati is the new Griffin Communications headquarters, the home of KOTV Channel 6 in downtown Tulsa. In the block south is Guthrie Green. Downtown Tulsa is looking up. The dramatic sky accompanied last weeks rain. We are hoping for more before our usual summer drought.

Black & White Reflections - Normandy American Cemetery
On a foggy morning in June of 2000 I visited the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer where the remains of 9,387 American military dead are buried. It was a very humbling experience.

Skywatch Friday - Blue Dome District
There was a stormy sky over Tulsa's Blue Dome District on Thursday. Named for the old service station seen at the lower center, this area is home to the new baseball park and a raft of restaurants and night spots. Downtown Tulsa is becoming a rockin' place.

Monday Macro - Baby Buffalo
Over the weekend Sue and I drove up north of Pawhuska to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. This is a 39,000 acre (160 km2 ) tract of land owned by the Nature Conservatory, and is the largest remaining tallgrass prairie in the world. It is home to a herd of 2500 American Buffalo and runs from parts of Oklahoma to northern Kansas. While this photo of a newborn calf is not technically a macro, it is as close to the little guy and his mother as I cared to venture. This is a beautiful area especially at this time of year when the grass is green and lush.

Weekend Black & White - Pawhuska
Pawhuska, Oklahoma is the county seat of Osage County and the capital of the Osage nation. The Osage Agency, which opened here in 1872, continues its operations in Pawhuska to the present. America's first Boy Scout troop was organized here in 1909. Part of the town is built on a hillside so steep that access between side streets is made by flights of steps. We were in Pawhuska today on our way to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, about which more later.
