Most of the US is experiencing record high temperatures and Tulsa is right in the middle of it. While many flowers fade and wilt in this weather the Crepe Myrtle seems to like it. No rain? 105 degrees? No problem.

Oh, so lovely! Wild that the crepe myrtle can withstand crazy heat. I certainly cannot.
We barely touch 100 and it's too hot already and mind you it's all year long, there's no escape the heat and humidity, unless I take refuge in air-condition rooms or take a flight out of the country to a colder climate country.
My favorite color of Crepe Myrtles!! They are so vibrant -- and do manage so well in the heat! Nice capture!
I was only once ever in a temperature of 104 degrees and that was in San Francisco. My husband and I fully expected an earthquake to occur as this was way over the top for our delicate English skins:-)
Nice crepe myrtle - not sure we have them over here.
Beautiful shot.

Crepe Myrtles have always been a favorite of mine. They are easy to grow, nearly impossible to kill, and can be trained in to lovely ornamental trees. I really like those with a deep watermelon hue to their blooms. Very nice Ruby Tuesday choice.
I like my summers and my spices a bit milder.
btw Laughed at your pizza comment. Me too!
lovely flowers....I always watch the country's weather, and feel so bad for those of you with high temps and extreme drought....all this record-breaking weather is a bit frightening...
Pretty cool to have such vivid blossoms in such warm, dry weather!
