The Indoor Pool at Hearst Castle

In October of 2004 we visited Hearst Castle while in Monterrey visiting out son Paul and his wife Beth.  They took us to the spectacular Hearst Castle, built by newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst.  This is one view of the indoor swimming pool.

What a magificent place to take a dip! The statues lend a touch of Roman legend! Luxurious!

We've traveled there too. OUT not in though. I'd love to take that tour though.

I toured part of the castle in the 80's and love reading about it and watching documentaries. It really is quite something.

I've been to Monterey a couple of times but couldn't resist the lure of the aquarium so lost out on the Hearst Castle.

When I look at this shot, I think I am at the Roman baths. What an awesome place. The reflections of the arched windows in the water are awesome. They immediately caught my eye. I have never seen any of the documentaries about the castle, and I have never read about it. Maybe I need to do this. Your picture really has me wondering what other amazing things are there. genie

my goodness; isn't it grand? Well what you might expect inside a caste; so interesting to explore.

I cannot imagine living on this scale! I would like to visit a few of the American castles.
Very nicely captured B&W. Well done.

Incredible pool, and your photo is great. I love the way you've used the shapes and reflections.

Great capture Bill - I doubt it would have been half as impressive in colour; B&W looks fabulous!
