Ruby Tuesday - Dove and Roses

A pair of Improved Blaze climbing roses arch over the supports of my front porch.  Just inside the upper canes is a nest occupied by a Turtle Dove.  She is very brave and does not startle when the front storm door is opened.  The interesting thing is that in previous years this same nest has also been home to English Sparrows and House Finches.  I guess it is first come first served.  I will try to post some status reports over the next few weeks.

Beautiful picture. Blaze is quite a rose. Dove's are pretty smart. The thorns keep other critters from harming their young.... Great post.

Gorgeous archway of roses - your flowers are way in front of ours.

Wonderful roses. And the dove has the most knowing eye I've ever seen. think she intends to hang on to that nest!

How beautiful your front door is with those bright red roses. The dove is so sweet with its nest there.

What a beautiful front porch.

We have had doves nest close to our front door and they hang tough on that nest.

This is just beautiful, Bill. For someone with a green thumb, you grow astounding red flowers! I love the 'reflectability' of your door, too.

As to the dove, she is a very wise bird to trust the likes of yourself. Yes, please, updates over the next little while.

Beautiful. I would love to have a few more doves move in and few less sparrows.

The roses, oh,the roses! What a stunning cascade of red!

TO LIVE WITHOUT RED

“To live without red is a sin!”
She said, with a rubicund grin.
“A world without red?
I’d rather be dead!
No crimson? It shivers my skin!”
