CDPB Theme: Edges - Price Tower

The Price Tower is a nineteen story, 221 foot high tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is the only realized skyscraper by Wright. The Price Tower was commissioned by Harold C. Price of the H. C. Price Company, a local oil pipeline and chemical firm. It opened to the public in February 1956.  Bartlesville is 45 miles north of Tulsa.  The Price Tower is all edges and angles.

A City Daily Photo Blog (CDPB) is a blog that publishes a photo each day taken in and around a particular city.  Currently there are 2,184 such blogs.  Tulsa Gentleman is a City Daily Photo Blog for Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The first day of each month there is a theme for all City Daily Photo Blogs. The theme for September is "Edges".

I've driven by the tower many times but have never been inside. Great photo.

I toured the building in 1970. It is as unique on the inside as it is on the outside.

Weird architecture!

What's the flag floating in front of it?

Zhu - I believe the white flag contains the logo of the CONOCO Oil Company. Conoco and Phillips 66 are both in Bartlesville.

I would not have guessed this was a Frank Lloyd Wright design, but is certainly is a good study in edges and lines. You do a wonderful job with this CPDB blog, Bill. Your photos are superb and your subjects interesting and well written. I'm sorry I don't visit more regularly, but you will understand that I'm a working gal and my time for blogging is limited. Thanks for following me when you can, too.
