Skywatch Friday

 4 A.M.

Night wears out. Stars that were high go down.
The campfire dies. Shapes from the forest ghost by,
so quiet that sleepers on the ground never stir.
Thin under the lid of dawn tomorrow is coming.

Dim floating figures bow to the sleepers
then fade as the light grows. They loom in the dark,
those forest wanderers. They step only in shadows.
For a moment I am one of them, then come awake.

Some night I will breath out and become
part of the silent forest, floating as they do
towards the thin lids of dawn,
and like them, unknown.

That's a beautiful picture and worth being awake at that ungodly hour!

Don't know the poet - must investigate.

I love it. The unsettled sky, and the orangish red band at the bottom, and an appropriate poem as a bonus.

Somehow I got a feeling of Tolkien - very fitting for the photo.

I am a bit of a poetry tragic, Bill and like dreamy sequences like the one you have posted with your photograph today.

Yes, I am home from the Australian Open.I had a lovely few days traipsing around the countryside. The tennis was a challenge to me because of the problem that arose during 2009 with my eyes, so my days of attending matches live are over, I suspect. Watching on tv I can cope with because I dont have to move my head to watch the action.

Did you see Federer last night vs Tsonga? The artistry of the man!

My daughter is in Colorado visiting a friend in Vail. Are they getting ice-storms like you good folk in Oklahoma? She is due back in Sydney on Tuesday.

Dawn, not my time of day at all. But I like that line "night wears out".
