Wednesday Doors - Price Tower


The Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma is Frank Lloyd Wright's tallest structure at 19 floors and 221 feet.  For details look here.  It is one of three Wright buildings in Oklahoma along with two residences, one in Bartlesville and another in Tulsa.

I'm not as familiar with Wright's commercial buildings as with his houses.

While Wright may have called Price Tower "the tree that escaped the forest", Bruce Goff referred to it as "a needle on the prairie." Some believe that Price tower took it's inspiration from Wright's Mile High Building, "The Illinois". The mile high project was a Wright concept that he hoped to build in Chicago.
