Macro Monday - Hardy Pansy

We have had several frosts which have zapped my roses and annuals, but not the pansies.  A hard freeze will stunt them a bit but they will survive the winter and provide a splash of color when everything else has bit the dust.  Let's hear it for the pansies!

Isn't it odd that 'pansy' in slang lexicon denotes one who lacks toughness, a lightweight, or as Coach Chuck would say 'a sissieboy'; when the flower is actually one of the hardier and 'toughest' of the species...
