Thank you Micki. I am very pleased that we have elected such an intelligent articulate president. I believe this is the beginning of a new energy for my country. I a very hopeful of a better time both in this country and in our relations with the word. What do you think?
I too watched the swearing-in ceremony and then watched an hour-long programme about Obama's life.
Talk about rags to riches - wonderful things can happen if one grabs the opportunities on offer out there. My only fear is that we are expecting TOO MUCH from one man. The world is in such a mess with wars and finances - it's going to be a long time before we all get back to living a normal life (whatever normal means).
I agree, good to read an American's view on what is happening. The BBC did speak to the "man in the street" in their broadcast but, naturally, those conversations were totally focused on BA being the first African American to come into the White House - I just hope those surrounding him keep him safe - there is still so much prejudice out there.

It is historic that he is African-American but my enthusiasm for Mr. Obama has to do with his intellect and determination. I believe he will actually bring positive change to a country that has been on the wrong track for the past 4 years. He will need a lot of help but I am hopeful.
