Bedding plants. No new photos today so I am using a couple extra from last week at the garden center.

Spent most of today pampering Susan with home made split pea soup and steamed potatoes and cabbage. She needed something easy to spoon in through the good side of her mouth. She is doing better.

Celebrating David Pendleton Oakerhater

Fr. Rick preached today on David Pendleton Oakerhater, a Cheyenne warrior, taken prisoner in March 1875 in Oklahoma, educated, converted, baptized and ordained an Episcopal deacon. He returned to Oklahoma in 1881 and ministered to his people until his death on August 31, 1931. Canonized by the Episcopal church in 1985, his feast day is September 1st.

Internet access is provided by 16 computer terminals. On Saturday afternoon most of them are occupied by kids playing online games. Several more are available to access the catalog. Any item in the system is available for delivery to your neighborhood branch in a day or so.

Lunch at the Korean Garden

Here is Jeyook Bokeum (pork stir fry) with rice and an assortment of side dishes.

The Korean Garden serves the only authentic Korean food in Tulsa and one of my favorite restaurants of any style. It is a small family owned restaurant, clean and simple with a very good menu. They serve a variety of bulgogi, soups, bibimbap, roast fish, and stirfrys, all served with rice and multiple side dishes. Many of the dishes are spicy but not all. All are interesting and delicious. If you are unsure what to order they have a nice variety of dishes to choose from on their buffet. They are on the North West corner of S. 41st St. and 129th East Avenue in Tulsa.

The focal point of River Park is often considered to be the Pedestrian Bridge, located adjacent to Zink Dam near 29th and Riverside Drive. The Pedestrian Bridge was formerly a bridge for the Midland Valley Railroad and is now a pedestrian walkway connecting foot and bicycle paths on both East and West sides of the Arkansas River.

Zinc Dam, shown here, retains water North of the Pedestrian Bridge to fill the river bank to bank. Downstream it becomes the Arkansas Sandbar during the dry season.

The Teaching Gardens extend along a long shaded walk bordered by a variety of plants that do well in the Oklahoma climate. The Tulsa Garden Center exists to promote learning about plants through education and demonstration.
