The soil looks so dry!
@Zhu - It is dry, it is sand. The Arkansas riverbed is very sandy, and is dredged out at several places to supply sand for concrete and other construction. The water is low right now and exposes the much of the riverbed. Of it stays low a few things might grow just to be washed away the next time the river is high.
