The Wheel Bug is one of several true bugs commonly called assassin bugs. This somewhat scarey looking bug is a beneficial insect that lives on caterpillers, Japanese beetles, and other insects generally considered to be pests. ReplyDeleteAbsolutely - about the number of interesting creatures in our gardens. One of the things I've appreciated about blogging is that it sends us off looking for even more than we might do otherwise - and I like that I can use my camera as a magnifying glass and view the insect clearly right there on the spot. Hurray for this digital world!
