Thursday Challenge: Aircraft - Biplane

Boeing/Stearman PT-17 "Kaydet", also known as a Stearman Model 75 on display at the Tulsa Air National Guard during a special Family Day held on September 11, 2010. I attended as a guest of my son Master Sergeant David Miller.

The Stearman (Boeing) Model 75 is a biplane, of which at least 9,783 were built in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s as a military trainer aircraft. Stearman Aircraft became a subsidiary of Boeing in 1934. It served as a primary trainer for the USAAF, a basic trainer for the USN (as the NS & N2S), and with the RCAF as the Kaydet throughout World War II. After the conflict was over, thousands of surplus aircraft were sold on the civil market. In the immediate post-war years they became popular as crop dusters and as sports planes.

    Very cool. if God had've meant flying things to only have one wing, then why did He give birds two? :)

    Lovely flying machine. I think this would have been a wonderful way to fly, with the wind in your face and the earth at your feet.
