Weekend Reflections - Philbrook Hippo

This hippopotamus can be found in the Philbrook Garden.  It was made from chrome steel automobile bumpers  in 1973 by American artist John Kearney.

  1. When I move into my new, smaller pad in a couple of weeks' time there is a minute "private" patch of garden where this chap would sit/stand beautifully = love it.

  9. As teenager growing up in Muskogee, trips to Philbrook were often and fun. I don't remember this hippo, but if one were built using car parts today, I doubt it would look as cool.

  10. What a fun shot! All that chrome must have been tricky to photograph.
