French Toast for Breakfast

The weather has cooled down and we had breakfast on the deck. Slices of good bread dipped in egg, sauted in butter and topped with fresh strawberries and slices of banana. Our extreme heat seems to have broken. We are ready for some fall weather.

    Des tranches de pai rassis trempées dans du lait et des oeufs battus et frites dans du beurre s'appellent "du pain perdu"... c'est délicieux avec une couche de cassonade !

  2. In French, this is "pain perdu", literally "lost bread" because it's a way to use the bread because it gets bad.
