A Sunday Drive with Smokey

Sunday was mild and sunny so we stopped by the house after church and picked up Smokey for a Sunday drive. We drove out to Keystone Lake and stopped on a hilltop with no one in sight and let Smokey run around off the leash.

We thought he would go sniffing through the woods but instead he went straight for a nearby building to sniff at the trash can. Why chase squirrels when there might be a hot dog in the can?

Nothing interesting in the can. That's OK Smokey, you can have a dog biscuit when we get home.

  1. Love the jaunty crossed-paws in the last picture! How did you come to name him Smokey?

  2. Poor Smokey just wanted a snack.

  3. He had to check it out. Hot dogs don't run as fast as squirrels.

  4. LOL, I bet mine would have first checked out that can too.
    Dogs ;)
But then they would have gone for the wildlife :)
    He's such a cutie :)!

  5. Why go farther for the food than necessary :-)

Thank you for the commen! It isn't as bad as it looks: It is some ventilation outlet on the flat roof of a pumping station for water. I'm standing on the top a small hill beside it.

  9. Smokey is a terrific dog. He loves everybody, does not bark, does not jump on people, shakes hands, sits up, and rolls over.

He knows when I am going out and beats me to the door. When I stop the car to go into a store he jumps into the back seat and waits for me. When I get out of the car, turn back to him and say "OK" then he jumps out to go with me. He is a fine friend and a wonderful companion.

Smokey is living proof that a Pit Bull raised by a loving master is as fine a family dog as anyone could hope for.
